HFG Architecture Expands into St. Louis with New Office and Regional Leadership Team

HFG has expanded its Midwest presence with the opening of a new St. Louis office, strengthening the firm’s ability to serve healthcare organizations throughout the region.
Leading the new office is Ali Summerford, who joins HFG as Managing Director of the St. Louis office. Summerford will oversee operations, client relationships, and strategic growth while helping strengthen HFG’s partnerships throughout the region.
“We have been in St. Louis for years, and this felt like the natural next step in an important healthcare market for HFG,” said David Wright, CEO of HFG Architecture. “Opening a permanent office allows us to deepen existing relationships while continuing to invest in the people and expertise needed to better serve healthcare providers.”
Having spent the majority of her career in St. Louis, Summerford brings extensive leadership experience within the local design and construction community and is recognized for her collaborative approach and commitment to client success.
“It’s exciting to bring the relationships I’ve built in this market to HFG’s new office,” Summerford said. “I have watched this region’s healthcare needs become increasingly complex, and clients need a partner who understands the local landscape while bringing access to broader expertise when a project calls for it. That combination is at the heart of what we are building in St. Louis.”
HFG has also welcomed Charis Trost as Senior Medical Planner. Trost brings 20 years of healthcare planning experience, with the majority from the owner’s side, providing large-scale strategic and master planning for clients in St. Louis and beyond.
“Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to work with HFG in the past, and I’m excited to bring that perspective and experience into our new St. Louis office,” Trost said. “Pairing my background with HFG’s healthcare expertise helps us align whole system planning even more closely with our clients’ strategic and patient-care goals.”
The firm’s expansion into St. Louis represents another step in delivering healthcare expertise closer to the communities it serves.
“We’ve been working with clients, consultants, and contractors from the St. Louis AEC community for years. We have been committed to growing those relationships, and felt like it was time to expand that team. Ali and Charis each bring unique expertise that expands the value we provide our clients, focusing on relationships and service as well as on healthcare specific strategic planning, master planning, architecture, and interior design,” said Dwayne Robinett. “Together they represent another important step in HFG’s continued investment in healthcare planning and advisory services.”
The St. Louis office builds upon HFG’s growing portfolio in Missouri and the broader region, while reinforcing the firm’s commitment to providing local leadership backed by national healthcare expertise.
