HFG's Campus Master Plan accommodated expansion/renovation needs for 20 years into the future. It identified workload and patient projections and established a matrix for all future space requirements on the campus. The plan also evaluated the current facilities and all off site leased space for the consolidation of all department services to the main campus. Planned improvements total more than $300 million.
This addition to an existing inpatient mental health rehabilitation unit created an RRTP to provide treatment services for veterans with Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Additions include six resident rooms, a group room, and office space. The project required complicated phasing in an active hospital environment. The VA set goals for sustainable design for this project and stipulated that it meet the VA Sustainable Building Program's guiding principles checklist.
