The Lawton Indian Hospital serves a number of tribes from the surrounding area, creating the opportunity to develop a design aesthetic that is appropriate and responsive to the different cultural influences. The Lawton Indian Hospital has over 100,000 outpatient visits per year from the Caddo, Comanche, Delaware, Fort Sill Apache, Kiowa, Apache, and Wichita Tribes. HFG's design team worked carefully with IHS to coordinate approvals from the Comanche Nation that surrounds the facility.
This 12,400 SF addition, 8,000 SF renovation project scope includes the existing Lab and Imaging Department, a new Emergency Department, a new Imaging Department, new MRI, new CT Scan, Heliport area, parking, and a new generator.
This project adds space to an existing outpatient pharmacy, relocates the inpatient pharmacy from the 3rd floor to the expanded area, creates additional offices, redesigns the consult window area, and reconfigures the existing casework for more efficient workflow. The relocation will ensure compliance with USP 797 and USP 800 and will allow inpatient and outpatient pharmacies to occupy one contiguous space.
